Founders Letter - Jan 25

Hey Babes!

Hoping you are all well and have settled into 2025 as softly and safely as we can.

The world feels like it is in a very strange and unsettling place right now.

I’m sending love and solidarity to our babes across the pond in the U.S. right now. The recent elections and the backlash that followed fell so heavily on marginalised communities—ones that we are part of, empathise with or are adjacent to. Words do not feel like enough in moments like this, but I hope each of you can access safety, community, and care during this time.

The movement I have been seeing online, led by Black Women, has inspired hope in me—a shift to looking inward to communities, spaces and systems that serve us. The power in the radical acceptance of what is outside of our control has reminded me that we are here to save ourselves. I truly believe that.

Community truly is the resource. Community in action. Community in care. Community in kind.

One that is accessible, open, adaptable, intentional, honest and empowering.

As we move into 2025, I have spent the first couple of months (besides recovering from that wicked flu that has been doing the rounds) reflecting on our community’s feedback, suggestions, and ideas. I want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to fill it in. Your words are valuable and shape who we are and what we do at ADHD Babes.

It has truly been a privilege to hold your dreams and words in a way where it can be actionable, considered and crafted into a reality. It is joyous to know that imagination can lead to reality. It makes me hopeful for what is to come and for what we already have.

Some ideas have been re-occurring, like a retreat or trip abroad, in-person socials outside of London, and even outside of the U.K. entirely! New suggestions have come through that I really hope we can create, such as rage spaces, a group for Mums and parents, and ways we can be more accessible, like BSL training.

The creativity and breadth of what we can imagine as a collective literally gives me life. I genuinely feel excited about what we can do. Every year gets better, bigger and braver, I really pray this year is more of this. The team and I am so excited to be on this journey with you all.

Our team is growing so much (28 babes in total but only 2.5 days a week combined!). The process of being a 100% community-led organisation is something we experience in real-time.

I hope we can go together. I hope we can hold each other with grace and compassion.

Happy New Year, Babes (because it is never too late to say it!). I wish you well until we speak again!

Lots of love
